Apply for funding

The Trust supports projects and initiatives that promote community wellbeing and sustainable economic development in Tairāwhiti.

We use our wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora, as a guiding set of outcomes for all funding decisions. Applications need to consider the fundamental principles of equity, sustainability and integrity. These are represented in the waharoa (gateway) of He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora.

Our funding application will prompt you to describe how these principals apply to your project. Beyond the waharoa, the next stage of the framework is Ngā Muka – wellbeing outcomes. The six muka are complementary and when woven together, complete the holistic vision the people of Tairāwhiti have for wellbeing.

Read through our He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora page for more detailed information on the framework and the six muka.

We know many applications will impact across a number of muka but we’d like to know how your project, programme or service outcomes aligns with one primary muka. You can explain alignments with up to two other muka, as long as they show independent wellbeing benefits. Successful funding applicants are required to report back to the Trust on the impacts across their identified muka.

The Trust receives hundreds of applications every year but we only have a limited funding pool available. We prioritise projects that demonstrate a clear need and wellbeing outcomes. If your application is not successful, we’ll let you know why. There are other funders in this region or nationally that might be better aligned with your project and our advisors can provide guidance in this area.
